Minority populations living in the U.S. suffer from poorer health care compared to white Americans, L.A. Times reports.

The government tries to narrow these discrepancies by bringing regulations that will give more access to proper health care for minorities.

There is a great diversity of such plans on the line, starting from facilitating access of poor children to proper dental care and up to helping Spanish communities finding proper treatment facilities.

Racial and ethnic minorities are unfortunately exposed to many health hazards, due to the fact that there is not enough funding provided for assisting with proper treatments.

According to a report of the Health and Human Services, currently there are almost 25,000,000 people of the minority groups who are uninsured.

However, the problem of these minorities is quite complex, since these restrictions to proper health care should take into account more factors such as the neighborhood where these people live, their access to healthy vegetable markets, and to physical activity.

Some of the federal plans on the line include:

  • To increase the number of poor children who have access to free dental care (including receiving cavity blocking sealants) by at least 10%
  • Hire more community health care workers who will help members of the community understand the importance of good health to prevent diabetes and to help them understand that following doctor’s instructions is important.
  • Better information and prevention services for minorities in issues such as stroke and heart disease
  • More certified interpreters that can help in doctor’s work with non English speaking minorities
