Street dental clinic needs free reno work
Dentists and hygienists have donated their time and equipment for the project that will operate one day a week for drop-ins and the city gave $35,000 from its social development grant program. Because the need for free dental care has grown since the economy has declined, Ridha has worked hard to add more volunteers to his staff of dentists and dental hygienists in the year he’s been at his post. And his efforts have paid off. The dental clinic was seeing 30 patients a week when he began as its director, and now it is seeing 140 patients a week.
