Free Summer Dental Clinics

WSIL — Families across southern Illinois can benefit from free dental care offered by SIU Dental Hygiene students. Several free dental clinics are planned for this summer, focusing on preventive care. The program is available to children ages three to 18 years. State law requires oral exams before entering kindergarten, second and sixth grades.

Pinellas County offering free dental exams for kids & teens

St. Petersburg, Florida — The Pinellas County Health Department is helping get your children a brighter smile for the new year. The Health Department is offering free dental exams and x-rays for children between the ages of four and 18 who are new clients at any of its five dental clinics.

Street dental clinic needs free reno work

Dentists and hygienists have donated their time and equipment for the project that will operate one day a week for drop-ins and the city gave $35,000 from its social development grant program. City social planner John Horn just needs to get the word out to contractors, who may want to install proper electrical, plumbing, flooring and drywall for the 1,000-square-foot space.

Horn predicts the work would be worth about $50,000. There is no way the free dental clinic will open in the fall without companies donating their time.

But while the clinic has been a mainstay, it was not always the bustling medical center it is today.

500 Receive Free Dental, Eye Treatment

Gakenke — As part of the Army Week, Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) medics, Wednesday, completed the treatment of over 500 patients with dental and eye ailments in Gakenke District, Northern Province. “Many patients come here when the level of their teeth damage is beyond treatment and we resort to tooth removal because there is a problem of general lack of constant care for the teeth,” Capt. Karangwa said.

Free dental products for people giving up smoking

DENTISTS in Deal and Dover are offering free dental products to patients who complete the NHS stop smoking course. NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent’s Stop Smoking Service has teamed up with 10 dental practices, including Pennypot in Deal and Smile in Dover, to encourage people to stop smoking. Each year, more than 3,000 cases of oral cancer are diagnosed in the UK, alongside conditions including gum disease, tooth loss, staining, halitosis and hairy tongue.

A free way to healthier teeth

Seeing a dentist is often the first thing sacrificed when jobs are lost and health insurance has ended. Because the need for free dental care has grown since the economy has declined, Ridha has worked hard to add more volunteers to his staff of dentists and dental hygienists in the year he’s been at his post. And his efforts have paid off. The dental clinic was seeing 30 patients a week when he began as its director, and now it is seeing 140 patients a week.

FLINT, Michigan — Adults and children can receive free health screenings and hygiene kits during a health fair 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 9 at the First Presbyterian Church, 746 S. Saginaw St. Screenings for height, weight, vision, hearing, blood pressure, dental, skin cancer, asthma breathing and osteoporosis are scheduled to be available, as well as health education information and referrals for health care.
