Poor children to benefit from free dental care
Poor children in parts of New Zealand will be given free preventative dental care, it has been announced.
John Gerretsen, Kingston and the Islands MPP, announced that a programme would be introduced to ensure children from poor families are entitled to free preventative dental treatments. Mr Gerretsen said he was aware that many families struggle to afford dental care and the new programme would help to promote good oral health and improve oral health amongst children from poorer backgrounds.

St. Louis-area dentist performs free services for teens who might otherwise go without
ST. LOUIS (AP) — A St. Louis County dentist is sinking his teeth into being charitable by offering free dental care to needy local teenagers.
KSDK-TV reports that Dr. Sam Cigno and his team performed more than $25,000 worth of care to about 30 teenagers on Friday. The services ranged from routine hygienic maintenance to root canal therapy.

Free Dental Care Offered for Uninsured Children
Uninsured Westport children who do not have access to dental services will be seen by participating local dentists in their private offices through the month of November under a program offered in collaboration with the Greater Norwalk Dental Society.
Funded by a $20,000 grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation, the program for children in the greater Norwalk area is offered by Trumbull-based nonprofit Southwestern Area Health Education Center in conjunction with the dental group.

Free Clinic Grants
Including Traverse Health Clinic which, among other services, will focus on providing patients with much needed dental care and procedures.
Rene Louchart, Dental Health Director for Traverse Health Clinic said, “We currently have 37 volunteer dentists that we refer our patients to for care. This grant was written to help us expand access and help alleviate the burden on our volunteer dentists as well.”

Two St. Joseph dentists provide a day of free dental care
On Nov. 22, the two St. Joseph dentists, whose offices share a building complex at 3906 and 3918 Sherman Ave., will offer free dental services from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as part of Dentistry from the Heart. The national dental care initiative encourages dentists to take a day to provide adults 18 and older with one of three options: tooth extractions, teeth cleanings or cavity fillings. According to its website, dentistryfromtheheart.org, in 2010 Dentistry from the Heart will help an estimated 33,000 people nationwide receive the dental care they might not be able to afford.

West Chester dentist offering free dental care Nov. 24
A West Chester Township dental office is offering a morning of free dental care for those who couldn’t otherwise afford it.
Afinia Dental will offer dental cleaning, extractions, cavity fillings or denture adjustments from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Nov. 24, at their office, 7789 Cox Lane.
Drs. Aaron Shaftel, Andrew Killgore and about 20 other dentists, hygienists and others have volunteered their time for the event. Patients will be seen on a first come, first served, basis.

Program gives free dental care to kids
Healthy Smiles Ontario is a new program for kids 17 and under who do not have access to any form of dental coverage. Children who qualify will get regular dental services at no cost. Kids 17 and under may be eligible if they are residents of Ontario, come from a family whose annual household family income is less than $20,000 and do not have access to any form of dental coverage including other government-funded programs such as Ontario Works.

‘Tooth Angels’ Provide Free Dental Care To Maine Students
PORTLAND, Maine — A group of dental hygienists are traveling across Maine providing free dental care to hundreds of students in need.
Susanne LaVallee and her team have run the nonprofit Maine Dental Health Outreach for about six years.
Affectionately known as the “tooth angels” to many Maine students, the group navigates the back roads of rural Maine in an old RV, providing dental exams to students.
