Helping people to a painfree Christmas, one tooth at a time
WENATCHEE — A Christmas without pain will be something new for Darren Sicklovan. The 35-year-old Wenatchee resident has endured severe toothaches since he was a child. He hasn’t been to a dentist since then because he’s never been able to afford the dental work he was brought up to consider a luxury.
Sickloven was one of more than 200 people who lined up at two Wenatchee dentists’ offices for free dental help Friday. Many others had to be turned away for the second year of Serve Wenatchee Valley’s Painfree Christmas Dental Day. Local dentists, dental technicians and hygienists volunteered their time to pull problem teeth and drill and fill cavities that are causing pain.

Free Dental Care For Those In Need At Treasure Island
A mobile dentist facility for patients of Glide Health Services is moving to Treasure Island this week.
The “Tooth Mobile,” a 40-foot mobile home consisting of two dental chairs, X-ray equipment and a lab, has been stationed at Glide Memorial Church in San Francisco this week, and from Monday to Friday will be open at the Glide You Build site on Treasure Island, spokeswoman Denise Lamott said.
The dentist facility provides dental screenings, cleanings, fillings, extractions, fluoride treatments, X-rays and dental health education to those who do not have access to dental care, according to Lamott.

Free Dental Care for Children
(IsraelNN.com) Government Ministers confirmed by a telephone vote on Sunday night a plan to allocate sixty-five million shekels to fund free dental care for children. The process was initiated by Deputy Minister of Health, Yaakov Litzman, who has sought to change the National Health Act to include some dental treatments.
The free dental care will come at the expense of the pharmaceuticals budget.

A massive free clinic takes the pulse of health care in America
And so a year that began hopefully ends bitterly.
The heartless cold freezing the city on December 9 and 10 turns out to be a metaphor for the year’s biggest argument and those left out of it. In Washington, D.C., on these same two days, a hundred cowardly senators are “debating” how little they can do to solve the problem of 47 million Americans who don’t have health insurance — who don’t have access to the kind of preventive medicine that keeps them from getting sick in the first place, who can’t just go to the doctor when they get the flu or a sinus infection, who don’t have any way to pay for a trip to the emergency room if they need stitches or break an arm or crack their head open in a life-altering accident.

Free Dental Work
Thumbs up to Biddeford dentist Joseph Kenneally and others who are involved in the planning or have volunteered their time for soon-to-be-opened free dental clinic. The clinic will serve those who already use the Free Clinic in Biddeford for medical needs and is sorely needed to address dental issues for the uninsured.
