Congressman Cesar “CS” Sarmiento’s Medical and Dental Mission at the Eastern Bicol Medical Center last October 16 helped a total of 2,255 registered recipients from different barangays of Virac with free medical, dental and eye services.

Lutheran youth group raises funds for health and dental clinic
The Youth Group at Memorial Lutheran Church, in conjunction with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, hosted the Third Annual Miles for Smiles walk-a-thon last month at Butler Beach East, raising $3,724.25 for the Good Samaritan Health Centers, Inc.
This free clinic provides medical and dental services for low income St. John’s County residents that do not have medical or dental insurance. More than 600 students turn out for JDA/Lasco oral health
More than 600 basic, primary and preparatory students turned out for the oral health fair hosted by the Jamaica Dental Association (JDA) and Lasco at the Girl’s Guide headquarters in Kingston on Wednesday.
Several students who spoke with the Observer said they learnt a lot.
Some of the participants were also given free dental check-ups while others had their teeth cleaned.

Free dental screenings, no trick
The average plastic jack-o-lantern carries 250 candies. That translates to about 9,000 calories and an astounding three pounds of sugar. Dentists will be on hand today at Irvine’s Pretend City Children’s Museum to check kids’ chompers before they chow down on buckets of Halloween candy.
The free screenings, provided by John DeLorme and Sam Wu of South OC Dental Group, are part of the ongoing Good To Go From Head To Toe initiative at the museum, which aims to promote health among O.C. children.

“Smile Mission” Provides Dental Care to 96,000 Venezuelans
Mérida, October 29th 2010 (Venezuelanalysis.com) – Government sources report that the “Smile Mission” has provided over 96,000 adults with dental care, including 34,600 with dentures, since the creation of the mission in 2006.
The minister for health, Eugenia Sader, said the dentures include both partial dentures and complete ones and are supplied from six different attention centres around the country as well as through mobile visits carried out by the Superintendency of Banks (Sudeban). The dentures are primarily for people from the poorest sectors.

Free Dental Care Offered at Midtown Dental
Midtown Dental is making appointments from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today for a day of free dental care it will provide Dec. 3.
Some free dental services will be offered to adults, ages 18 and up, who can’t afford dental care or dental insurance and who meet financial eligibility.

Cerritos College Dental Hygiene Students Provide Free Dental Cleaning to Low Income Women
NORWALK, Calif. – October 28, 2010 – Twenty senior students in the Cerritos College Dental Hygiene Program gave free dental cleaning to low income women at the Modern House Call for Women event on Friday, October 22, held at Cal State Long Beach.
The groundbreaking event was part of the Women’s Conference, the annual event that aims to empower and inspire women.

Free Dental Clinic Draws Hundreds of Patients
ALLEGANY COUNTY, MD – Hundreds of people are lining up early in the morning to get free dental care at a clinic at Allegany County Fairground in Cumberland. Some people were in line two hours before the doors opened.
“I’ve come this far, so i guess I’ll wait it out,” says, Helena Arnold, a patient who says she has no insurance. “I know it’s not easy on them, but I appreciate their effort and what they are doing for the public.”
Over a 150 dentists, hygienists and other volunteers will serve more than 1,000 people between Friday and Saturday.

YVCC to offer dental screenings for veterans
YAKIMA, Wash. — In honor of Veterans Day, 36 area residents are receiving free dental services at Yakima Valley Community College on Thursday.
Through the event at 1015 S. 16th Ave., free dental exams and X-rays are being provided to 36 area veterans, active duty servicemen and women and adult dependents.

Mission of Mercy clinic providing free dental care
CUMBERLAND — Sandy Parker suffered for more than two years from the pain caused by her neglected teeth.
But the 52-year-old Frostburg resident, who receives government-funded health care through Maryland Medical Assistance, said she couldn’t get her dental issues checked out. It cost too much out-of-pocket, and her health coverage does not include dental work.

Getting Free Dental Screening- Covering the cost of young teeth
Students in Limestone County, Alabama will be able to receive free dental screenings. This will hopefully be able to lead to free or affordable dental care. The free screening is being offered by Limestone County school District is to be agreed upon during a monthly meeting on Monday to work with Serrell Regional Center, a nonprofit group that will provide free screenings for students.

Dental workers aim to bring smiles to the poor in Cleveland, New Orleans and beyond
After Olmsted Township resident Kathleen Marotta and North Ridgeville resident Colleen Kiley returned from a weekend stint providing free dental care to New Orleans’ homeless and uninsured, their friends started asking why they didn’t volunteer locally.
They told their friends they would. Then they challenged their friends to volunteer with them during MedWorks free health clinic, scheduled for Nov. 6-7 at NEON, at 8300 Hough Ave., Cleveland.
