DETROIT — Free dental work is being offered Saturday in Detroit.

The Michigan Department of Community Health is hosting the Michigan Day of Oral Health Outreach from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Detroit Mercy School Of Dentistry. The school at 2700 Martin Luther King Drive in Detroit.

The clinic will provide free dental works and oral health education for adults in need of emergency services.

Free dental work offered to financially strapped residents

MT. VERNON — The United Way and a group of local dentists will be offering free dental services to financially strapped county residents who do not have insurance or Medicaid next month as part of the United Way Day of Action.

The nation-wide annual event is being held for the first time in the King City and United Way of South Central Illinois Executive Director Rhonda McCowen said the community dental need is the focus.

“We know there’s a community need for dental care for free in our county,” she explained. “There’s only one dentist that accepts Medicaid and often I get calls from people in need of affordable dental care, so this has been on the United Way Board’s mind for a while.”

Children get free dental work

Kindergartner Davin Jackson, 5, smiled for a photo Friday with his top lip tightened across his newly white two front teeth, which had just been repaired at Beach View Dental’s free children’s clinic.

Describing the work done, Davin said, “He brushed them and stuff and I had chip and a black spot and he got rid of it and took that cavity out and put a new one in.”

The idea to provide a day of free dental treatment to children came “from a couple of school nurses who are our patients and talked about the need,” said office manager Vicky Burrage.

Free dental work offered in Roanoke for those in need

The Bradley Free Clinic and the Roanoke Dental Society teamed up to provide free dental work for those who couldn’t afford it.

Fifteen dentists from all over Roanoke pooled their resources up to help more than 110 patients in one day. From simple check ups, gum disease, tooth decay and pulling teeth, dentists say they are happy to provide the free service.

Free health and dental care offered to Defence staff

Around 2,700 defence personnel from Cairns in Queensland, Singleton in New South Wales, Katherine in the Northern Territory, Sale in Victoria and the Pilbara region in Western Australia will take part.

They will be eligible for free doctor visits and up to $300 for dental care.
