Free dental work in Cumberland County

The New Jersey Dental Association (NJDA) will be joining with other private and public dental associations and businesses across the country on Feb. 4 to bring free dental work to low-income or uninsured children under the age of 12.

The American Dental Association (ADA) organized the Give Kids a Smile! National Dental Access Day to provide needy children with oral health services, usually on the first Friday of every February.

Project K.I.N.D. gets students needed health and dental care

Wood gave statistics as of the last health campaign, saying, “So far we have had 244 patients in our dental clinics, providing about $162,430 worth of free dental care and 2,437 separate services to students in the districts we serve.” Each year those numbers grow as Project K.I.N.D focuses on meeting the growing health needs in the area. For parents that have a student in need of medical or dental attention, Wood encouraged them to contact their local school nurse for a referral to a health care provider.

The nationally recognized annual program, Give Kids a Smile! National Dental Access Day, enters its 9th year here in New Jersey. On Friday, February 4, 2011, more than 1,300 volunteer dental professionals at 103 dental locations in New Jersey will treat low-income or uninsured children ages 12 and under at no charge. The Give Kids a Smile! program is New Jersey’s, and the nation’s, largest organized free day of health care.
