Dental Insurer Provides Free Dental Services and Education to Those in Need

HARRISBURG, Pa., June 9 — National dental insurer United Concordia Dental is celebrating National Smile Month from June 1 through June 30. The event, a collaboration between Oral Health America and the British Dental Health Foundation, promotes the importance of proper oral care, good nutrition and regular dentist visits.

United Concordia Dental’s focus on community is evident through the more than $100,000 of free dental services that the company has sponsored in the first quarter of 2009 alone. In fact, three clinics are scheduled during National Smile Month, in Columbus, Ga., Uniontown, Pa. and Pittsburgh, Pa.

“National Smile Month is a great opportunity for United Concordia Dental to spread the word that dental disease is preventable with proper care of the mouth, good nutrition and regular visits to the dentist,” said Dr. Richard P. Klich, United Concordia’s National Dental Director. “These dental clinics provide a way for United Concordia to reach out to those members of the community that otherwise could not afford preventive dental care, and help provide a number of services they need to maintain good oral health.”

Free dental work on offer in Richmond Hill

Professionals from York Region Denture Centre in Richmond Hill have set a day aside to give back to residents in their community, providing free dental work and services for those who can’t afford them.

June 26, Gehad Wahab, denturist, will offer free denture repairs, cleanings, adjustments and exams.

Orthodontists offer full dental treatment free for four children

CARBONDALE — Two orthodontists plan to give a full dental treatment to four children who apply for a new scholarship.

Klein and Cook Orthodontics has funded the “Smiles of Hope Scholarship Program,” an initiative that will give underprivileged children in the region the chance to receive needed orthodontic treatments. The program will select four eligible children a year, one child per quarter, to receive the scholarship.

Free Dental Services Expanded

An already existing dental program in Huron County has been expanded to include high school students.

The Huron County Health Unit will be in high schools the week of June 8th offering free dental screening to teens.

Dental Hygienist Trina O’Rourke says the “Children in Need of Dental Treatment” Program already had them visiting elementary schools once a year.
