With thousands of Michiganders lacking dental care, an Oakland County dentist and a Macomb and Oakland county human services agency are renewing efforts to find more dentists willing to provide free dental care to people with developmental disabilities.

Hundreds flock to White Lake for free dental care: 125 uninsured patients get relief and one says it saved her life

More than 30 staff and volunteers, including four dentists and two dental hygienists, worked until 6 p.m. Saturday to provide free dental work X-rays, exams, cleanings, fillings, and extractions to 115 uninsured people. Ten more patients were scheduled to receive free care on Oct. 9.

Pasadena dental center to provide free oral cancer exams

Park Place Dental Center, 277 S. Euclid Ave., will perform free oral cancer exams from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 25.

The exams will be performed with Vizilite, a specially designed light that aids in the detection of oral cancer lesions.

Oral cancer is far too often discovered in late stage development. Early detection and diagnosis can make a tremendous difference in life expectancy.
