Volunteers spend day giving kids free dental treatment
Before the snow began falling, children across Middlesex County were treated to free dental checkups for their pearly whites as part of the annual Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) day. Local dentists, schools and hospitals participated in the statewide program, offering free preventative and emergency dental care for children ages 12 and under throughout the day on Friday.

Douglas County dentists donate free dental treatment
More than two dozen dentists throughout the county opened their office doors Friday to low-income children and adults to provide free dental services and education. A handful also joined Umpqua Community College dental assistant students and other volunteers in the predawn screening in the St. Joseph Catholic Church school gymnasium.

Local dentists give kids and their families something to smile about
DECATUR – On Friday morning, the waiting room of pediatric dentist Dr. Bret Jerger’s office was nearly full. Throughout the day, Jerger and his staff would go on to see 81 children who might have otherwise waited months for dental treatment.
Jerger’s office has been participating in Give Kids a Smile day, a national event dedicated to providing free dental care for underserved kids 12 and younger, since it began in 2003.

Dentistry from the Heart continues to grow
NEW PORT RICHEY – The scene has become something of a local tradition. During the predawn hours one Friday every February, the area around Monticciolo Family and Sedation Dentistry starts to look like a tent city. Hundreds camp out, many overnight, to secure a place as one of the patients who will get free fillings, extractions or tooth-cleanings at the annual Dentistry from the Heart event.
Inside the dental office, the team of dentists, assistants and office staff, many of whom are working together for the first time, prepare to work as a team assigned to the task of treating about 500 patients in a single day. Even before the doors opened, the energy level was high; volunteers talked on headsets as they maneuvered around one another in last-minute preparation.

Free Dental Screening For “Give Kids a Smile” Program
Hundreds of kids are bring big smiles to school thanks to a Grand Traverse County organization. For the third year, the Traverse Health Clinic and Coalition is visiting schools in the five County region with its “Give Kids a Smile” program.
The program teaches kids all about oral health and provides a screening by a volunteer dentist. Every kid walks away with a free tooth-care kit and an important lesson about dental care.

Free Dental Appointments for Uninsured Children in Celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month
In Celebration of National Children’s Dental Health Month, HealthLinc Dental Staff will be providing dental care to children who are uninsured and do not regularly see a dentist.
These dental exams will include a visual oral exam. Parents and children will be given education on the proper brushing techniques, flossing and how to be prepared for an oral health emergency. All children will go home with a kit including a toothbrush, tooth paste and floss.

Dental hygienists taking appointments for free children’s cleanings Saturday
NORTHUMBERLAND — Two Cobourg dental hygienists are offering “a gift from the heart” to kids up to age 14 on the day before Valentine’s, says the Northumberland Oral Health Coalition.
Mary Ito and Veronica Marriott are opening their practices on Saturday to provide free dental cleanings for children from families with no dental coverage or who are experiencing tough financial times, says Anna Rusak, health promoter with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit.

Helping Kids Keep A Great Smile
EDISON—“Give Kids a Smile Day,” an annual event at Middlesex County College, provides free dental care and dental education to area children.
Local dentists, hygienists, and dental auxiliary students and alumnae volunteered their time and talents Feb. 5. They treated 94 children who received an exam, a cleaning, fluoride treatments, x-rays, sealants, as well as education on how to brush and floss. Those who needed it had cavities filled and extractions performed.

Get free dental treatment Friday
ASHEVILLE — Dr. Steve Adams and his staff are holding their sixth annual “Dentistry from the Heart” day Friday at 26 Reynolds Mountain Blvd.
