More Than $400,000 in Free Dental Services Provided to People in Need
HARRISBURG, Pa., — United Concordia Dental, one of the nation’s largest dental insurers, has helped provide more than $400,000 in free dental services to nearly 2,800 people in need since the beginning of the year.
Since January 31 clinics have been held across the nation. Volunteer dentists and hygienists provided free services at the clinics, which ranged from cleanings and X-rays to fillings and fluoride treatment.

Autumn Children’s Festival Free Dental Services
The cornerstone programs are the 26-bedroom Ronald McDonald House, Ronald McDonald Family Room located inside T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, a mobile dental clinic providing free dental cleanings and examinations to underserved, school-age children in Tennessee Valley. Ronald McDonald House Charities also offers 40, $1,000 scholarships to area high schools’ seniors.

Mumbai Smiles-The Largest Ever Oral Care Marathon
MUMBAI: The largest Ever Oral Care Marathon entitled ‘Mumbai Smiles’ will be handled by Mudra MAX today.This event initiated by Indian Dental Association (IDA) in partnership with Wrigley’s Orbit® sugar-free chewing gum will be held between 9-10 Oct’09 at the Bandra Kurla Complex, in Mumbai.
The specialized units of Mudra MAX have started initiating and driving Mumbaikars to be part of this event where they are expecting more than 5,000 free dental check-ups.

Senior Affordable Dental Care sign-up day Oct. 13
Seniors living within Maumelle city limits may apply for a free dental assessment on Oct. 13 at the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center. Proof of income will be required. Marion Scott said three months bank statements would suffice. The actual assessment will be conducted on Oct. 22, she said and those selected will be informed before that date. Local participating dentists include Austin Family Dentistry, Dr. Richard Lewis and Maumelle Family Dental Care.
The availability of services is based upon the amount of funds collected at the Western Roundup. Dentist donate their services but the funds are required to pay for the cost of materials.

Dentists Donate Time To Help Needy Families
WAUKESHA, Wis. — With the poor economy, some families are having a hard time paying for medical and dental care.
On Saturday, a group of students and dentists from the Waukesha County Technical College provided free dental care to dozens of children who might have went without.
About 60 children were served at the free dental clinic. The volunteer time adds up to about $30,000 in free dental care.

By midafternoon Saturday, about 200 people had undergone screenings, including tests for cholesterol, blood sugar, body mass index and blood pressure. Children also were provided free dental screenings.

Free Dental Work By Mission of Mercy
It costs Mission of Mercy about $20,000 annually to run the dental clinics for the organization’s Maryland and Pennsylvania sites. Last year, 1,026 patients were seen. Most are adults, although a few children and senior citizens are seen. Low-income children and seniors get free dental care from the Frederick County Health Department, but sometimes transportation is an issue.
