Three waves of volunteers land on the island each year to provide free dental service in Ocho Rios, Montego Bay and Negril.
Anderegg’s group traveled this time around to Ocho Rios, where 1000 Smiles workers completed 827 cleanings, 1,148 filings, and 1,750 extractions in one week.

Free dental exams offered as means to help Salvation Army
A Sioux Falls dentist is offering free exams to anyone willing to donate food or warm clothing to needy people in the community.
Dr. John Wightman at Western Dental is making the offer, along with $5 X-rays, as a way to give back to the community. The items donated – such as food and new coats, hats and gloves or a blanket – and the money for X-rays will be given to the local Salvation Army.
People feel good about giving and get to have their teeth checked in return, he said. “I don’t profit from it. The only thing I might profit from is meeting some new people.”

One-day free clinic is good medicine
Jessica Johnson of Rapid City said that’s why she took advantage of a free one-day health clinic, organized by Black Hills Region District Nine of South Dakota State Medical Association, South Dakotans for Healthcare Solutions and a host of area businesses.
After screenings, Loftus offered advice to the walk-in patients and made recommendations to the patients whose dental issues needed immediate care.

Regional program provides free dental services
Students at Graceville Elementary had their smiles brightened Friday after a visit from “Smiles on Wheels,” a Panhandle mobile dental service providing low-income students with free dental care.
These students, along with the 22,000 other children in Jackson, Liberty, Calhoun, Holmes and Washington counties, have received more than 57,000 free dental visits.

Missouri College to open free dental clinic
Missouri College plans to open a free dental clinic Tuesday that offers exams, X-rays and cleanings.
Missouri College dental students, with supervision by instructors and dentists, will provide the exams at 1405 South Hanley Road in Brentwood.
Patients needing more extensive dental work like fillings and crowns will be referred to local dentists.

Taguig launches oral hygiene program in schools
City Nutrition Officer Kaye Tinga said the free dental services will kick off at Signal Village Elementary School on Ballecer St., Taguig City, where hi-tech equipment such as digital transportable X-rays, dental cameras and dental implant machines will be used.
