Dental practice to offer free care to needy
Lalor Creekside Dental will join with the national non-profit Dentistry From the Heart Saturday to provide a day of free dental care for those in need. The doctors and staff will offer one cleaning, filling or extraction, free of charge, to a minimum of 100 people.

More than 425 people received free dental care on Saturday at the first Piedmont Regional Mission of Mercy Dental Day. The event took place in Barboursville in Orange County. These patients are in addition to the 200-plus patients who received free dental care the day before at Dr. Cathy’s Butterworth’s clinic in Fredericksburg.

Among the bargains and collectibles is a booth that offers a unique service: free dental screenings. Operated by MCG, faculty members and dental students donate their time on the weekends. The booth is provided free of charge by Barnyard and a grant pays for all the supplies used. They act as an information center, giving advice to people who may not see a dentist on a regular basis. Some of their services are limited, such as the absence of an X-ray machine, leaving them to rely on what they can actually see and feel.

Dr. David Potts will hold his annual one-day event, Dentistry From The Heart, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Lake County Dental Care office, 908 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. The event event provides free fillings, extractions and cleanings. Services will be rendered to adult patients 18 years and older on a first-come first-served basis. It is free dentistry to those who can not otherwise access these services due to financial hardship or lack of insurance. Patients who require ongoing care or have problems that can not be fixed in one day will be referred to area community clinics where they can receive ongoing treatment at low or no cost.

Free Dental Care Mobile Wins Global Online Initiative
Over 12,000 votes were cast on www.rmhc.org to show support for the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile in Hazard, KY. Each click of the mouse represented one person willing to take a moment out of their day to show their support for children in Eastern Kentucky who benefit from the free dental services provided on board the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile.
Since 2005, the program has offered Eastern Kentucky’s children affordable, professional dental services and education on this state-of-the-art mobile clinic. Centered in Hazard, KY, (Perry County) the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile assists vulnerable and at-risk children in their own neighborhoods and schools.

The Low Income Dental Program is moving forward in Belleville and Tweed where dental centres will be set up at both the Belleville and Tweed Health Units. The new program will provide free dental care for children from infancy to their eighteenth birthday.

Drive-up dental provides free services at schools
LAKE COUNTY — The Access Dental Van made its yearly pass through Lake County with one-week stops in the Middletown and Konocti unified school districts. More than 200 children received services free-of-charge.
Lake County Office of Education’s Healthy Start program coordinated visits by the mobile dental service, which provided screenings, cleanings and various treatments. The program is statewide through contracts with Healthy Families.

Topeka — “Gifts that change lives.” That’s the annual fund-raising campaign kicked off today by the Marian Clinic. The clinic is in its 22nd year of offering free or low-cost medical and dental care, staffed by more than 200 doctors, dentists, nurses and other volunteer providers. The campaign hopes to raise $220,000 to meet what they say is an ever-increasing need.
