Free Dental Screenings Offered And Free Dental Clinic Scheduled

PAWTUCKET — Blackstone Valley Community Health Care (BVCHC), in partnership with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI), will provide children with free dental screenings as part of the center’s one-year anniversary event. Dental screenings will be held tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the BVCHC Dental Clinic, 210 Main St., Pawtucket.
The event will also include free blood-pressure and body composition screenings on the BCBSRI Community Wellness Van, dental and health insurance information, as well as children’s activities such as a beanbag toss, face painting, and an appearance by Mighty Molar, BCBSRI’s good dental health character.
Screenings are for children of all ages from around the state. A parent or legal guardian must accompany children under the age of 18. For more information, call (401) 729-5239.
Free dental clinic scheduled
LAURINBURG — A free dental clinic is planned for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Stewartsville Baptist Church, 10401 McColl Road in Laurinburg.
The clinic will provide free dental treatments to 300 to 500 patients. Treatments will consist of extractions, fillings and cleanings. Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
The clinic is open to families whose income does not exceed 200 percent of the federal poverty level. As many as 20 dentists, UNC dental students, hygienists, dental assistants and dental assistant students from Fayetteville Technical Community College will volunteer at the clinic.
