To address this problem, thousands of Minnesotan dentists will offer up two days of dental help to children through the “Give Kids a Smile” program early this February, according to Public News Service. The help will be completely free of charge.

Children benefit greatly from having healthy teeth and an attractive smile. Many child experts note that the quality of one’s teeth can affect social fluidity, interpersonal skills and speech development, Public News Service reports.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma Dental Association’s president says the group’s members will participate in a 2-day free dental help in downtown Oklahoma City next month. Association President Tamara Berg said Tuesday that what is dubbed as the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy is expected to attract 2,000 patients, who will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is set for Feb. 4-5 at the Cox Convention Center.

Berg says a similar event last year in Tulsa drew about 1,800 patients. This year’s event is being funded by a $150,000 grant from the Delta Dental of Oklahoma Oral Health Foundation, which also helped sponsor the 2010 event. Organizers say that during the past eight years, almost 70,000 patients across the U.S. have received free dental help through the Mission of Mercy program.
