Dental school, company partner to help Californians in need

LOS ANGELES, California–The end of adult Denti-Cal services earlier this year left many disadvantaged Californians unable to find affordable dental care.

The USC Mobile Dental Clinic, started in 1968, travels throughout southern and central California, providing more than $1 million in free dental care for thousands of patients each year.

USC’s five-vehicle fleet has the capacity to provide many types of oral health services from checkups and cleanings to extractions, restorations, and other major procedures.

Code issues close free dental clinic

A clinic that has provided free dental care to generations of Jackson County children plans to reopen early next year after being displaced by fire code violations at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Officials with the Children’s Dental Clinic of Jackson County say the move has disrupted services, but will be a benefit in the long run, as RVMC will continue to provide the space free of charge and soon in an improved office.

Medical clinic to help those without insurance opening in Lebanon County

A free medical/dental clinic serving Lebanon County residents without insurance opens tomorrow, staffed by a roster of 80 volunteer doctors, dentists and clerical staff. The Volunteers in Medicine clinic at 711 S. Eighth St. targets the working poor, but anyone meeting income limits can be served, said Kathi Caber, clinic director.

She estimates as many as 10,000 county residents now have little or no access to health care.

  1. The Dentists Should not need a PR Event to Provide Care

It is shameful to know that only under the guise of a charitable event that dentists have enough courage to provide care at no charge.

I thought people became Doctors because they had a calling to help people not to become wealthy.

All Doctors should set a percentage of their week to provide free or low cost care. It is a spit in the ocean to give away $45,000.00 of Dental Care divided by 11 Dentists.

Way to go $4000 bucks of dental care is not even inadequate and not worth the hyperbole given here.

Try harder Doctors and Dentists to remember why you do what you do.

  2. Merry x-mas, I am a very low income patient who is looking forward to the smiles on wheels free dentistry work that is coming to southern california or california in general..can you gmail me when you are coming to california. God bless you for helping those who are in need of dental work.
