Mission of Mercy helping East Texans’ dental needs
TYLER, TX (KLTV) – Talk about a reason to smile. Hundreds of East Texans will receive free dental work this weekend thanks to Texas Mission of Mercy. For the 6th year, local doctors and dentists are offering their free dental services to people in the community who cannot pay for it.

Dentists offer free dental work to children
Vankley and four other dental specialists were in Fort Pierre recently to provide free dental services to nearly 50 children who needed help.
It’s part of the Dakota Smiles Mobile Dental Program that has served more than 10,000 people in more than four years of traveling across South Dakota.
The program, which started with a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile and a full-time staff of four in 2004, added a second vehicle in 2008 – the Delta Dental Smile Mobile – and more than doubled its full-time staff.

CHARLESTON — Many take the health of their teeth for granted, and the Kanawha Valley Dental Society is trying to change that. 30 dentists and their staff are taking part in “Give A Kid A Smile”. It’s an effort to give check-ups to youngsters whose family has no dental insurance to hopefully prevent future problems.

Free Mission of Mercy dental clinic swamped by dawn on its second day
Before the sun rose Saturday, organizers of the Mission of Mercy free dental clinic in Roanoke turned away about 400 people for the second and final day of the event.
The decision was made at 4:30 a.m., well before the doors were supposed to open at 6 a.m. The same situation occurred Friday, when the clinic had to turn away about 600 people in need of dental care.
Young said they plan to rethink the process for accommodating the huge demand before next year’s clinic. About 360 people were able to get a spot in today’s clinic, while about 700 people were served Friday.

Vocational school offers free dental services for youths 4-17
Free dental services for young people are being offered through Wednesday at a vocational school in Sacramento.
Western Career College will offer X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments and dental care instruction.
The services for young people ages 4 through 17 will be performed by dental hygiene students at the school’s clinic, 8909 Folsom Blvd. For an appointment call (916) 361-5168.

McDonald Care Mobile to be at Stuart April 5-8
CHATTANOOGA — Tooth decay has become a silent epidemic that affects millions of America’s children each year. Poor dental health can ultimately lead to many other health problems if left untreated such as heart disease, gum disease, oral and facial pain and even malnutrition due to not eating because of pain.
The Ronald McDonald Care Mobile seeks to address childhood tooth decay problems in Tennessee Valley. The mobile unit will be on site at George R. Stuart Elementary at 802 20th St. N.W., April 5 through 8, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Mobile free dental clinic’s return puts focus on follow-up care
The clinic, which treated 6,300 people last August, will revisit L.A. in April. Many who were treated had trouble finding follow-up care, a situation local officials are trying to remedy.
Doctors and other medical personnel who volunteered last August at the largest free health and dental clinic ever held in Los Angeles could practically watch as their patients slipped through the holes in the county’s safety net.
Among the 6,300 uninsured and underinsured seeking care at the Forum in Inglewood last year.

Free Dental Work to Deserving Students
SANTA MARIA – Kids were leaving with all smiles on Saturday, at Alvin Elementary in Santa Maria. Students from the USC Dental School are giving free checkups and exams to some students in the Santa Maria Bonita School District.
Nurses, assisted by healthy start advocates, went through the school system and found 115 of the neediest kids for the program.
