Free Dental Care News for 19 December 2008
December 19th, 2008Local dentists donate care for those in need
Mark Oehler’s fingers and toes were numb from standing in line since 6:10 a.m. But he was more concerned about the pain in his teeth.
Oehler’s gold crowns fell out 10 months ago. “It means I can only chew on one side,” said Oehler, 50, who is unemployed.
Oehler was one of 19 people Wednesday morning who benefited from free dental care courtesy of cosmetic dentist Cliff Rogge, owner of Artistic Smiles, 920 S. Hover St.
From 8 a.m. to noon, Rogge and cosmetic dentist Thomas Kammer provided basic dentistry — filings, extractions and cleanings — with a $1,000 limit per person.

Smiles from Santa
A local dentist office is celebrating Christmas a few days early. Couch Comfort Dental is providing “Smiles from Santa”.
For the fifth year, the clinic has been offering free dental procedures to customers on a first-come, first-served basis. That means anyone can walk into their clinic on 25th Street in Idaho Falls and get free dental work.
Doctor Phil Harper says they hope to help people who would otherwise go without proper dental care.
Dr. Phil Harper: “There’s so many people that get slipped through the cracks, that don’t actually qualify for Medicaid, Medicare, but can’t quite afford something. So it’s to help those people that are in pain and can’t afford it.”
