Greenville, SC – Small Smiles Dental Center of Greenville will offer free dental screenings during a health fair at the Center for Community Services on Howard Drive on Saturday, August 8th. Children’s Coalition sponsors health fair

The Children’s Coalition for Northeast Louisiana will host the annual Children’s Resources and Health Fair for parents, caretakers and children. This free community event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Monroe Civic Center Arena.

This sixth annual event will include free dental, hearing and vision screenings for children; free dental sealants applied; 45 interactive booths, games and an obstacle course. Shots-4-Tots will also be available on site for a fee of $10.

Free kids’ dental checkups being offered by clinic

Parents arranging for back-to-school dental checkups can obtain free exams for their children today and Friday at Western Career College’s dental hygiene clinic in Sacramento.

Book-ahead appointments are already full, but the clinic should be able to take some walk-in patients if they arrive at 8 a.m. or 12:30 p.m., said Marie Miranda, the college’s dental hygiene clinical coordinator.

The college, which trains dental hygienists, provides free teeth cleaning, screenings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, nutrition counseling and sealants at its clinic at 8909 Folsom Blvd.

Clinic Demonstrates Dental Health Needs

More than 700 volunteers.

More than 1,300 patients.

Their convergence last week at West Virginia University at Parkersburg was a step in a movement intended to change the way many West Virginians take care of themselves.

It is difficult to understand, but government agencies that are charged with caring for poor adults and their children do not provide dental care for those adults.

The two-day free clinic in Parkersburg underscored that gap and showed that dental care is not available or affordable for many, many West Virginians. The Parkersburg community, with help from far and wide, came together in a remarkable way on July 31 and Aug. 1 to bring light to that obvious hole in our health care safety net.

Kids get reason to smile

Cuyahoga Falls dentist Don Secrest looked into the mouth of Jesus Terrones on Wednesday and spotted a cavity.

The dentist filled the 9-year-old Akron boy’s cavity free of charge.

The work was part of a free dental clinic held at trucking firm YRC on Gorge Boulevard in Akron on Wednesday.
