Free Youth Dental Work Day
Lake Washington Technical College (LWTC) and the Lake Washington Dental Hygienists’ Society are offering free dental work for low-income children on Saturday, February 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on LWTC’s Kirkland Campus.
Children ages 6-13 are eligible for the services. Volunteer dentists will provide oral exams, bitewing x-rays and fluoride varnish.

NEW HAVEN — Children from Greater New Haven can get free dental services 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Levy Dental Group, 921 State St.
The children, ages 3 to 16, must be from low-income families.
The day, during which the staff is donating services, is part of the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids a Smile” campaign. Every child who visits will get a cleaning, examination, X-ray and screening for dental-related pain.

Johnson Family Dental offers free dental work
Dr. Steven Johnson will host the sixth annual Free Day of Dentistry — Dentistry From the Heart — on Saturday, Feb. 20, at Johnson Family Dental Offices in Solvang, Santa Barbara and Ventura.
Patients will be seen on a first-come, first-serve basis and may choose to have a filling, tooth extraction or cleaning.

The Stratford Health Department, in collaboration with the Oral Health Bridgeport Initiative (ORBIT), will hold the annual “Give Kids a Smile” Day Feb. 5. Select private dental offices and community dental programs will offer free dental work for uninsured children.
Services offered include: exams, X-rays, cleanings, sealants, fillings, crowns and extractions.

Students get free dental work inside the high-tech dental office on wheels
The Tooth Taxi is a high-tech dental office on wheels – a 38-foot motor home that has been customized with two fully-equipped offices, including x-rays.
The Taxi was at Astor for the first time last week, performing free dental services for students in need. On Tuesday, the Taxi’s mobile staff screened about 95 children, checking to see what kind of treatment was needed. Students enrolled in free or reduced lunch programs were eligible as well as those have acute need or who don’t have dental insurance. Parents had to give permission for their children to participate.

Free Two-Day Dental Clinic to be Held Feb. 5 and Feb. 6
The Oklahoma Mission of Mercy (OkMOM) is a free, two-day dental clinic open to people of all ages and backgrounds. It is specifically designed for people that are uninsured, underinsured, or would otherwise not be able to seek dental care.

Dental program host free dental work day
YAKIMA, Wash. — The Yakima Valley Community College Dental Hygiene Program is hosting the 17th annual free dental sealant day on Feb. 6.
Anyone between 6 and 21 years of age can schedule an appointment.
Patients will receive a dental exam, fluoride treatment, and when needed, sealants — all free of charge. A sealant is a safe plastic coating that’s painted onto the tooth, protecting it from bacteria that can cause cavities.

GRENADIAN CHILDREN BENEFIT FROM FREE DENTAL WORK
Members of the Grenada Government say they are delighted with a program of dental care currently being undertaken nationwide by a group of professionals from the United States.
The 46-member team from New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry has been administering free dental care, such as extractions, fillings, root canals and reconstructive surgery to hundreds of Grenadians – mostly children and the elderly.

Nominate student for free dental work
Smiles and Blessings, a nonprofit fund under West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, has partnered with the Jackson-Madison County School system and local dental offices to provide a free day of dental work for children/teens in need. In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month, the American Dental Association’s “Give Kids A Smile Day” will be held on Feb. 5.
A total of 50 students from Jackson Central-Merry High School and North Side High School have been chosen to receive free dental services on this day. An additional five to ten children will be accepted from other schools.

Regence Caring Foundation/Idaho Public Health offer free dental work for kids
February is national children’s dental health month and the Regence Caring Foundation For Children in conjunction with Idaho Public Health North Central and area dentists is offering free dental work for uninsured kids. Idaho Foundation Coordinator Kathy Ellis says the program provides exams, cleanings and x-rays to area children who without treatment may face serious oral health-related issues down the road.

Scottish children missing out on free dental work
YOUNG children in Grampian, Orkney and the Western Isles are still missing out on free dental treatment.
Official figures published yesterday showed that health boards have failed to meet a national target to ensure that 80% of three to five-year-olds are registered with NHS dentists, for the second year in a row.

San Juan College dental hygiene students practice on ‘live’ patients
FARMINGTON — A tray of intimidating silver instruments balanced near Shandra Antonson’s hand Tuesday as the first-year dental hygiene student leaned over one of her first clients.
Antonson, a first-year student in San Juan College’s
Dental Hygiene program, is one of only 12 students accepted per year. Students spend the first semester of the program in the classroom, where they practice on mannequins and fellow students, said Julius Manz, director of the program.
The dental students also host an annual Give Kids A Smile Day. Children ages 5 to 12 can receive free dental or orthodontist work Feb. 5 at the clinic. Dental students and community dentists will see about 50 children that day, and they are expected to complete about $50,000 in free work.
