Free dental exams are good for a smile
IMPERIAL BEACH — Pediatric dentist Clayton Cheung peered inside the mouth of trembling 3-year-old Ian Garcia at VIP Village Pre-School in Imperial Beach and gave the track-suited tyke a passing grade.
It wasn’t clear if Ian’s shaking was because he was cold or scared, but by the end of a 10-minute dental screening, he was given a bubble-gum flavored fluoride varnish and was all smiles.
Cheung was among four San Ysidro Health Center dentists who teamed up with Sycuan to offer free dental exams to nearly 600 children this week. Each child left with a tube of toothpaste and a report card noting any cavities and recommended dental treatment.

HUBER HEIGHTS — Boredom spurred dentist Bob Muster to check out the Ohio Dental Association’s Web site, but that mouse click will likely lead to a crazy workload at ABC Dental on Nov. 10.
That’s the day Leave No Vets Behind, a free day of dental care for veterans, will be offered at the dental office.
Veterans will be able to get fillings, extractions, root canals — anything that can be done in one visit.

Dental group raffling off free appointments
PORT ORANGE — At a time when so many people are in need, White Wolf Dental Group is going to try to give people something to smile about with its annual “free dental day.”
Rather than serve patients on a first-come, first-served basis, this year the office is scheduling a drawing on Nov. 6. Before the drawing, people may fill out a raffle card for a chance to be seen by a dentist or a hygienist by appointment Nov. 20.
Treatment options include cleanings, exams, X-rays, fillings and extractions. The office will treat 80 to 100 people.
