I am 33 years old and suffer from a family trait of tooth decay. My little brother had dentures at age 22, my older brother has only a few bottom teeth while his uppers are all decayed and rotted. The army paid for my little brothers treatment, but myself being a convicted felon for drugs at 17 the military would not accept me. I tried again after 9/11 but still no branch of the military would accept me. I am currently unemployed and uninsured and suffer major pain from my teeth constantly. I have a 2 year old son and another on the way due in august so any extra money that my fiancé has goes to our family. We are suppose to have our wedding in feburary but I’m hesitant because I can’t smile on this most important day of our life. People sometimes don’t realize just how much a smile is worth. Besides the confidence and security it gives … When you have to always hide your smile, even from your 2 year old son who says Bo-Bo and points at your mouth, you wish you could smile for them. A smile is priceless. And it’s the only thing I would love to give back. While I was incarcerated the only option was to have your teeth pulled or extracted. There was no true dental care provided. Only a small brush with two tiny rows or bristle or brush. No mouth wash no floss …. Not even a care for if you were in pain. I didn’t want my teeth pulled but now I wish I had. I’m despartely searching for a clinic or way to just have my smile back. I live in Louisiana. If anyone could help or knows of a dental school where I can be a person to pratice on, PLEASE let me know. My # 337 654 5216 or 337 380-3849. My name is Philip. Thank you and God bless.
