Dental Offices Make Affordable Urgent Dental Care a Priority

On Monday there have been officially celebrated the two renovated facilities of Eastman Dental.

The facilities are located in two different spots, and from now on urgent dental care will also be provided, besides the other healthcare branches, for the population.

The renovation project lasted for two years, and the overall cost was $5.9 million. There have been expanded the Eastman Dental Downtown located in Sibley Building (228 E. Main St.), plus the main clinic which is located on 625 Elmwood Ave.

The main clinic is the health facility where the dental urgent care clinic can be found.

In late 2008, Eastman Dental was awarded with a grant from the state in order to make the facility accessible for people who cannot afford proper dental care. The grant totaled an amount of $3.9 million. Moreover, another $2 million in funds have been provided by Eastman Dental Capital and Eastman Dental Center Foundation.

According to Dr. Cyril Meyerowitz, who is the director of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, the clinics will allow the medical staff to provide affordable dental care for even more patients from the area of Rochester.

Both of the facilities have had an increased number of patient visits, namely: 11,250 patients for the downtown site and 80,370 for the campus on Elmwood. Meyerowitz has further stated that the urgent care clinic has exactly the same role as that of the primary care clinics found all over.

The clinic is formally named as the Howitt Urgent Dental Care unit, and according to Jack W. Howitt’s declaration, he is extremely proud that the clinic bears his family name and that the clinic is named in honor of his two late uncles who were dental professionals. Jack W. Howitt is part of the Eastman Dental Staff for 12 years, and he is in the field of dental care practice for 25 years.
