Dental Anesthesia Without Needles?

St. Renatus, LLC has finished clinical tests in two of three U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) phases for its nasal mist local anesthetic.

Phase 3 clinical studies required by the FDA are expected to be completed in the second half of 2011.
The NDA will likely be filed in the latter part of 2011.
According to a recent survey conducted by the Industrial Research Center, here are some important findings:
- 90% of those questioned would rather opt for the new nasal mist at the dentist’s
- 23% would even opt for the services of another dentist than their own, who offers the nasal mist anesthetic
- 96% of the dentists questioned admit that they would use the anesthetic in their office
If everything goes well, by the end of 2011, the nasal mist anesthetic will have received its approval, and will be ready to enter the market sometime in 2012.
