Oklahoma’s First Free Dental Clinic A Success

TULSA, OK — More than $850,000 in free dental work was performed Friday and Saturday at the Tulsa Convention Center. It was part of Oklahoma’s first free dental clinic. More than 1,800 people attended the event.

Volunteer dentists, oral surgeons and hygienists donated their time and talents to help Tulsa area residents who haven’t been able to afford dental care.

East Texans flock to clinic for free dental work

TYLER, TX (KLTV) – Fillings and cavities – they’re painful and expensive to treat. So, when word of an East Texas dentist offering free dental work spread, East Texans lined up outside of Smith Dental Care in Tyler by the hundreds.

Lorance is one of 350 uninsured, under-insured or unemployed East Texans taking full advantage of today’s charitable event.

Free dental clinic opens in Boise elementary school

BOISE — A new free dental clinic in Boise will allow kids from low-income households to get a check-up without ever leaving their school.

The students welcomed the new addition with a song. “We shall brush our teeth three times a day,” they sang.

The free dental clinic has been in operation since 1954, but it was on Saturday they officially opened at Whitney Elementary School. The clinic is offered to all students in the Boise School District who are on the free and reduced school lunch program.

Free dental work at PEACE

Between January 18-29, PEACE’s main headquarters at Casa Campesina was turned into a dental clinic. During those 10 days, 12 dentists and 4 dental hygienists performed FREE dental work on over 150 children and some of their family members. The students were told about the service in advance, and they had to fill out permission slips and turn them into their teachers.

This service has been offered by PEACE for about 3 years now, and also in other facilities around the Bay. The participating dentists are a team from the US and Canada who have been coming down to Mexico for over 5 years to provide this service for children and communities who cannot afford it.

Underprivileged kids all over Panama City received free dental work in observance of National Children’s Dental Health Month.

Local families took their children to Gulf Coast Community College Friday where Bay County dentists and the college’s dental program held their annual Give Kids a Smile Clinic.

All of the services were free and the kids and the instructors were all smiles.

Free Dental Work: Exams

A free dental exam is a draw for anyone considering the down economy…and that’s exactly what was being offered at the Oakdale Mall Saturday.

Dr. Tim Bruns, a Pediatric Dentist at Lourdes Hospital, was there offering the free dental screenings as a way to get the word out about Childrens’ Dental Health. Burns says being informed about your kids’ dental health is the best way to prevent problems later in life.

Give Kids A Smile gives free dental work to children

ST. LOUIS — At this free dental clinic on Saturday, many of the boys and girls in line for X-rays had never or rarely been to a dentist. And it showed.

Esmarelda Hirkic bounded into the examination room at the Center for Advanced Dental Education at St. Louis University. She flashed a smile to dentist Jeff Dalin. One of her front teeth was blackened. The X-rays showed more problems for the 5-year-old.

Most of the children at the clinic are poor. But Dalin says many of the children coming in now would not typically. They are kids from working-class homes. Their parents have lost their jobs. Trips to the dentist are now unaffordable.

Free dental work is gift from the heart

BREWSTER — A local dentist will be offering free dental work Saturday at his office as part of a national effort known as Dentistry from the Heart.

For the past five years, Dr. Stephen Bellorini, owner of East Brewster Dental, and his team of dentists, sponsors and volunteers have helped more than 300 people in need of dental work, according to a press release from his office.

The gift of a child’s smile is free

The two were among 350 children who came to the annual Dental Health Day, which provides free dental work for children whose families are uninsured and can’t pay for visits to the dentists.

Since its inception four years ago, the program, sponsored by Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Washington Oral Health Foundation, has provided $250,000 in treatment services, said Dr. Munib Derhalli, a Vancouver periodontist and past president of the Clark County Dental Society.

Gradually growing in size the last few years, this year’s Dental Health Day saw a 10 percent increase in the number of children served since last year.

Free dental exams make for many smiles at Market Place Shopping Center

Market Place Shopping Center was full of kids with newly clean smiles Saturday afternoon.

Give Kids A Smile, an annual event held by the Illinois District Dental Society, provided free dental care and information to children between the ages of 1 and 17.

The event had various booths with activities and information for children and adults, including: face painting, a coloring contest and nutrition counseling.
