Nearly $600,000 in Free Dental Services Provided in 2009

National Dental Insurer Helps Provide Care for More Than 3,900 Children and Adults in Need.

HARRISBURG, Pa., Jan. 13 — More than 3,900 children and adults with minimal or no insurance received nearly $600,000 in free dental services during 2009, thanks to national insurer, United Concordia Dental.”Nationally, more than 108 million children and adults do not have dental coverage,” said Sharon Muscarella, United Concordia Dental’s senior vice president of sales and chief marketing officer. “Our company is committed to partnering with the communities we serve. Free dental work: dentistry exams

Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples, is teaming up with dental professionals across the state to provide free dental work to those age 3-18 whose families cannot afford to pay for the care. Thursday, Feb. 4 and Friday, Feb. 5 are Give Kids a Smile Days, an opportunity for free oral exams, x rays, teeth cleaning, and fluoride treatment courtesy of the Minnesota Dental Association and the Central Lakes College Dental Assisting program.

Free Dental Work for Low Income Children (MN only)

Minnesota dental professionals who are concerend about the growing number of children who don’t have access to dental care will be offering free dental work to low income children in need. The “Give Kids a Smile” event, which is coordinated by the Minnesota Dental Association, will be held at community-based clinics and private practices at many locations throughout Minnesota on Feburary 5-6, 2010. These clinics will treat low income children ranging in age from 3 to 18. More than 2,500 dental professionals will participate in this event.

Children can receive free dental work from local dentists on Feb. 5

Friday, Feb. 5 will mark the seventh year of Give Kids A Smile! (GKAS) National Children’s Dental Access Day. The New Jersey Dental Association has been a participating state since the program’s inception in 2003. Since then, more than 13,000 children age 12 and under have come through the program and have received nearly $2.4 million in free dental services at more than 80 locations across the state.And, the program continues to grow.

Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) is a national program modeled after the St. Louis, MO program of the same name. Volunteers in the dental community give their time and services to deliver screenings and treatment to needy children age 12 and under, absolutely free.

Area doctors offer free dental work

TRAVERSE CITY — For the 12th year, six dentists in the Traverse City area will provide free dental work to area residents unable to pay for basic dental care. This year, patients do not need referral tickets.

Kids can get free dental work Feb. 5

Give Kids a Smile Day is an oral health outreach program that results in FREE dental work and education for hundreds of thousands of underserved children each year. Last year, $38 million in dental services was donated through the American Dental Association’s national efforts.

Nova Southeastern to offer free dental work to underprivileged kids

Starting this month, some 400 underprivileged elementary school students in the North Miami Beach area will receive free, preventive dental services, thanks to Nova Southeastern University. The Davie school’s College of Dental Medicine will use a $58,141 grant from the Dr. John. T. Macdonald Foundation to give free cleanings, fluoride application, sealants and oral hygiene instruction to students from three participating elementary schools.
