Dental clinic gives students, patients reason to smile
Second-year College of Lake County dental hygiene students Rosie Corral and Brittany Seveska certainly appreciate that their school has a place where they can practice their skills on real patients.
As they stopped to chat with their teacher, Sue Nierstheimer, a flurry of activity continued behind them as fellow students examined their patients’ teeth. The sterile environment, complete with 10 examination chairs and all of the necessary tools, is the college’s Dental Hygiene Clinic, located at the Lakeshore Campus in Waukegan.
“This clinic in this location is the best thing,” said Seveska. “It’s cheap and we offer so much for our patients.”

Dozens of kids get free dental care in Gilbert
About 40 children ages 2-9 received free dental cleanings at Bashara’s office Monday, and because of the high demand, the dentist plans on holding free clinics every six months. Appointments for Monday filled up in about four hours once the cleanings were announced, and 50 people were on the waiting list.
Every Sunday night the Bashara family watches Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and the show compelled them to make an impact in the Southeast Valley community.
Children who received cleanings Monday and were in need of additional treatments will also receive those for free at Sweet Tooth.
