You know when you go to the dental checkup and you feel totally guilty (and it’s right) when dentist ask if you’ve been brushing and flossing twice a day because you know you haven’t? Well Jessica Simpson says she doesn’t brush her teeth every day.
Jessica Simpson recently confessed to IHeartRadio that she doesn’t brush her teeth. Of course, she justified her case by appending that she relies on mouthwash to get the job done.
“I don’t brush my teeth,” said Jessica in interview. “No, really! I just use Listerine — and sometimes I’ll use my sweater.”
Video appeared on YouTube and got many views and comments.
“Of course she doesn’t brush her teeth! She goes to the dentist and gets her teeth whitened… If they look white she doesn’t think she needs to every day,” say some person.
“Guess what, this gives me a chance to confess that even I’m not an avid fan of the toothbrush,” comment other. “And my justification is that I use a lot of plain water and gargle to my heart’s content every time I use my mouth to eat something.”
Jessica added that she does brush every now and again, but her teeth are extremely powerful.
“Get it whitening doesn’t kill the bacteria every morning that eventually goes to her veins and give her heart disease,” commented one person. And it is true.
Jessica shows not a good example of oral hygiene. The lack of brushing and flossing can lead bacteria to accumulate in teeth and cause gum disease and tooth decay. Our dental health is important because it is strongly linked to overall health.
“As a dental hygiene student, I find this totally gross. She’s right about losing her teeth at 60! Seriously, that is just nasty and even though Listerine kills bacteria, it IS NOT a substitute for daily brushing and flossing.”
Good example of proper oral hygiene plus saving environment shows Jennifer Aniston, she says:
“I take a three-minute shower. I even brush-wash – brush my teeth while I shower. Every two minutes in the shower uses as much water as a person in Africa uses for everything in their life for a whole day.”

Nice post! The article is very interesting and funny too. I can’t believe that Jessica didn’t brush her teeth everyday. That is too Bad. Doctors advice to brush and flush twice in a day and she skip all those. I think she might be having a Bad smell too. If anybody wants to get faint, doesn’t need for chloroform. Just open Jessica mouth and everything is done. he he…
I’m not quite sure how you use a sweater to brush your teeth. She must be a dentist’s nightmare
Thanks for this article! Reading it really shows where we are as a society. We place more value on what celebrities or other highly visible people have to say, than we do dental professionals who study and train to serve the health care needs and wellbeing of their patients.
I am not a dentist, but I do know that brushing my teeth protects my health. Most people eat and drink at least 3 times a day — and unfortunately, the typical American diet is filled with sugar — which contributes greatly to tooth decay. Not brushing regularly is certainly not glamorous, the “in” thing to do or wise.
Jessica if you’re reading this, you should be more careful about what you say. You bear the weight of an entire generation of young people on your shoulders. What you do or DON’T DO greatly impacts their decisions.
Am a dental hygienist in Switzerland and remember my first boss telling me that if you are not clean in your mouth, you are definitely not clean anywhere else……!!!!
Jeanne, I agree with your boss about that! My dentist in Las Vegas once told me the same thing actually. According to a dentist’s website, dental implants and whitening can get your chompers look great but it definitely doesn’t mean that it is healthy. In my opinion, nothing can substitute brushing and flossing.
