The staff at the clinic noticed that there is an even bigger demand for the services they offer, so they at looking for volunteers to join their community.
The Affordable Care Act to be introduced from 2014, sadly does not bring any good changes in favor of the uninsured people who lack proper access to dental care. The volunteer free dental events and the clinics which can hold such free dental care days will still remain the number one hope for these people.
The Charlottesville Free Clinic has got currently as many as 600 patients on waiting lists. Given the news about the new act which will not make dental care accessible to the poorest of the society, there will be an even bigger need for such services.
The Charlottesville Free Clinic needs more licensed dentists and dental hygienists to volunteer through the clinic and give a helping hand to these people.
According to the executive director of the Charlottesville Free Clinic, Erika Vicello, the clinic will definitely expand its scope of care. They have already welcomed a new dental hygienist to the team, and the staff will shift a much greater focus on the importance of prevention and wellness.
No matter what, everyone in a community should have access to proper healthcare and dental care. Every year, approximately 500 members from the healthcare community donate their skills and time in the benefit of the patients who need these treatments the most.
The CFC dental clinic welcomes volunteer dentists, dental assistants and hygienists in order to help patients during the day, evening or Saturday clinics. Volunteers from the UVA and VCU School of Dentistry are also welcome.
